Punk rocker chain
Jul 16th, 2016 at 5:49pm

When I was young, punk rockers and teddy boys are fighting against each other in Finland.
This is the weapon of those crazy times. I was not a punk rocker, but now I test it.

Timpa, what were you doing with a Rockabilly album?   Grin

Is that what you used to listen to, back in your younger, wilder days?   Grin

Teddy boys/ U.S. pop-culture vs. Punkers/ Brit pop-culture
Here in USA we had, at least for a time, west coast vs. east coast rappers and so on.

In December, Finland as an independent state will be a hundred years old ... And the original "East vs. West" civil war's centennial will soon follow...

Thanks for the info! Memories!

Related to this, I got interested recently in the Japanese weapon the kusari fundo (or manrikigusari) which is basically just a chain with two weights on each end (or two weights of different sizes or one weight and one ring or... etc etc. They liked to experiment with it it seems Cheesy) and I decided to make my own version using a key chain. I wasn't sure what I should use for the weight but then had a brain wave and got a cheap plumb line off eBay and attached that. It works amazing well and there was something I hadn't even thought of. If it swings just right and hits at a precise angle, the pointed end actually cuts! I managed to actually cut through thin cardboard wich is kind of amazing for a bludgeoning weapon Cheesy

For the other end I used an old curtain rail ring.

Yes.  I'm going just briefly to see the places in Ostrobothnia where my great-grandparents came from... It is just a brief trip--sort of exploratory.  Hopefully I can spend more time there on a later trip.

Did the Teddy Boys use switch-blade knives or motorcycle chains during these gang sub-culture "rumbles" or street fights? Outo maa... Grin Tongue

Only punks used the chain. Knives were not used. Punks and Teddy had a lot of spring batons. Today it is peaceful.

Welcome to Finland! I believe that you will enjoy. Cheesy
