My latest flint knife
May 25th, 2016 at 5:15pm

Hi people.... here it is

...

The blade is made of flint, biface; it has a tang which makes it somewhat unrealistic if compared to Italian prehistorical ones, but offers great grip for a knife.
Handle is arbutus wood, cut and shaped with stone tools made using flint that I found nearby.
The glue is a mixture of pine resin and coal dust.
Have a nice day Smiley

Keokut doesn't make that good of a projectile point, it has way too many chalky inclusions.

I prefer jasper or Texas Pedernales or actual flint for an arrow head.  And agate works a lot better if you heat treat it.  Watch out for the agate with the white streaks, the white has a different density and has a bad habit of causing your flake to hinge or to break there.
