New Iron Age expo next 4th of January!
Dec 31st, 2015 at 8:59am

Hallo friends,
so me and my mates will have the chance to show our Iron Age replicas by setting up a desk in the theatre of a town nearby.
We still don't know how much room we will be allowed to use for the setup, but since the town is a very small one we assume the theatre will be small, too.
Hence we'll only display one female figure, one warrior and the most rich pieces we have.... amber, glass beads, damascus steel and so on... plus pics and drawings.
It's unlikely we'll setup the tools, I mean we won't show the bellows, the forge, feasting stuff and such.
Only the best armors, weapons and jewelry.
Pics will follow Smiley
Greetings,
Mauro.

It was cool!! I am now waiting to get the pictures from the photographers, but all I can say now is that everything was very professional and that I noticed a good improvement since we started this Arte Picena group some 4 years ago  Cheesy
I'll update the topic asap!!

Those pics are amazing.  I am partial to the first pic with the outfit and weapons, the shells look beautiful.

Thx ryan, I make the iron and steel weaponry, plus some kinds of lead glans; my friend makes bronze jewelry and tools and a third one makes the ceramic ware.
All of us are also capable of working leather and organic materials in general  Smiley

That is a great display.  Did you make the spears in the background, too?

What is the circular object the figure is standing in?

Bill, thank you so much, and yes I also made the spears.
Thing is, I found an old homemade anvil (a rail section a half of which has been filed to obtain a cone) that I suspect was used to make rakes, hayforks and such, because I found it in an abandoned farm. I use it to make spears and other socketed weapons.

The circular object is the pottery version of a bronze item which is commonly found among the Picenian culture; it's classified as a ring but it's obviously not something you can put on your fingers. It was most probably used as a hanging decoration (the Romans laters used bronze plates and masks) or was some kind of military/athletic reward. But since it has been found on some female graves, too, I think it was some sort of marriage gift.
During the centuries it changed its use; nowadays one of these bronze rings can be seen on a XIIIth century door - at that time they decided it would be a good door knocker  Shocked

Ryan, thank you so much; we can't sell them yet because we have no license to do so, but we're planning to require one as soon as possible. We're also preparing shirts and such  Smiley Thanks!!

Did you ever check out ETSY?  An online marketplace,  you should definitely look into it. Or some other website.
