Thing is, I found an old homemade anvil (a rail section a half of which has been filed to obtain a cone) that I suspect was used to make rakes, hayforks and such, because I found it in an abandoned farm. I use it to make spears and other socketed weapons.
The circular object is the pottery version of a bronze item which is commonly found among the Picenian culture; it's classified as a ring but it's obviously not something you can put on your fingers. It was most probably used as a hanging decoration (the Romans laters used bronze plates and masks) or was some kind of military/athletic reward. But since it has been found on some female graves, too, I think it was some sort of marriage gift.
During the centuries it changed its use; nowadays one of these bronze rings can be seen on a XIIIth century door - at that time they decided it would be a good door knocker
