Sling Givaway!
Oct 30th, 2015 at 7:28pm

Hey, all.

My significant other has pointed out that I can only use one sling at a time, and at the rate I'm braiding slings...my throwing arm will get tired long before I ever end up using them all. Heh.

So...I am going to give away a couple of my slings. Y'all just need to pay for shipping/handling.

All my slings are around 25".

1) A 'Rockman'-style sling made with sisal twine (and green-dyed jute woven into the pouch)

2) A 'Rockman'-style sling made with jute.

3) A 'Rockman' style sling made with 48# hemp cord and treated with jojoba oil

4) A sling braided out of eye-searingly-bright nylon mason cord.

Post here which one you want...if there's more interest than I have slings, I'll roll some dice or something.

Gold star award wining post

I'd be very interested in any of the slings, particularly the third one.  I haven't used a "Rockman" yet.
Thanks, Ted.

Obviously your significant other could take one off your hands;)
I give most of my slings away locally except for the ones I'm given or any really special ones that I make.
You might wanna try a Peruvian style pouch next as your progression

TurkeyVultureTed,

The hemp 'rockman-style' sling treated with jojoba oil is yours. Send me a PM with your address, I'll figure out shipping costs. Smiley

Adding another sling to the giveaway: Another hemp 'rockman-style' sling, but this one is treated with beeswax.

Adding another sling to the giveaway!

This one has an Egyptian-style woven pouch, and is made from eye-searingly-bright-neon nylon-braided mason-line. Like all my other slings, this one is 25"-26". Per recommendations from another thread, this one doesn't have a release-knot.

C'mon, *someone* must want a sling that they can use at raves. Smiley

Hello Jareth Athian,

I'm a new member of this slinging-community. You can read my introduction on the forum. I'm from Belgium, I'm just beginning to sling so I have to learn a lot. A good start would be to have a decent sling. So I'd really appreciate if you could spare me one and if possible one for my friend also. We can both practice then.
I like your slings a lot, and it's hard to choose. What is a good sling to start with? I really like the colours of the Egyptian and of the nylon-mason-cord, so I'd like one of those (maybe the Egyptian?). And then another one for my friend in more natural colours. Would you really give that away? That would be a fantastic Christmas present for both of us. We'll have a whole new year to come to have fun with it. Thanks for all your help and merry Christmas.

Jereth, Hi!  I was going to give send you a range report on the sling you sent me, but between sick Ma, sick dog, the holidays, and the wife coming down with pregnant I haven't had the chance to do any slinging since November.

Hopefully I'll be getting a free afternoon soon as it stays lighter longer, and I'll be able to tell you how the sling throws for me, but in the meantime, it's a beautiful piece of work; I very much like the dropped-line feathering, and expect it to work as a bit of a silencer.  As I get back to taking daily walks, I plan to wear the sling as a bracelet as I keep an eye out for appropriate stones.

Thanks again,
Ted.

Ted,

I'm glad that you like it! IIRC, that was one of my first slings that was treated with jojoba oil; I've since gotten a bit more practice using that oil and have found that sometimes the woven 'pouch' section on the rockman-style slings gets a bit loose. Let me know if that happens and if it affects the performance of the sling! I'd be happy to toss a newer sling your way. Smiley

I think that most (if not all) of the slings pictured above have been given away. I'm selling some slings on my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/BayAreaSlings) but I have plenty of other slings to give away, too.

So...This offer is still open! Contact me via PM. Smiley

I have no sling and I would be very interested in acquiring any sling. If you have a sling to be given I shall gladly accept it and the charges for shipping and handling.
