yeah but sand flows much easier, is denser, is usually free or at least very cheap and doesn't make as much of a mess if the baloons burst Smiley

On the flip side if I get hungry while slinging my flour balloons I can make a cake from my ammo.

New challenge! Throw an egg up then use rusty balls of flour and sugar to make egg batter in mid air. Extra points for icing.

I'm going to google it, but just in case I can't find it, does anybody have the specs for the size of the square target, metal round middle, and height for the target?

I like these rules, 10, 20, 30 metres and any sort of sling.

What do you class as a kid? Under 15? Under 13?

Not sure if this was covered, but it's there a common or specific stone weight/size for competitions?

Oh no-one answered this. Oops. There are no rules on size/weight of ammo, just ammo type. Tennis balls you use... well tennis balls. Stones, you can use ones provided at the competition but all the good ones get grabbed as soon as the crates are put down. Often you get left with mismatched and chipped ones. Makes for a good excuse if you aren't doing so hot... Some people bring their own ammo, rocks or clay. With lead, I don't know if there is a specific rule against it, but if there isn't a specific rule, there is an unspoken one.

Hmm interesting, never thought about lead in competition before.

My guess would be that there's just no point, 20 or 30 metres (mainly in ibiza) zero benefit from using lead.
And while I've never noticed any attempts at health and safety in the Balearic Islands, my guess it's possible that even they draw the line somewhere. whistle

Plus lead's expensive and stones are free (if illegal to remove from the beaches they are gathered from,).

But stone Weight's vary from pep Salinas at around 800gms all the way down to Marcos at around 80gm.

For the record Jaegoor likes 180gm stones.

And bless him if you ask nicely, Marcos will let you use his stones Smiley

So, I hear you ask, what is the benefit of using heavier stones ?

Simply put you are less likely to overthrow.
Pep salinas throws in a fairly high slow arc, he pretty much only misses by throwing short.
I like really light ammo and pretty much miss by always overthrowing.

So there is a lot to be said for splitting the difference and going for a mid range heavish stone like Jaegoor does.

For the generic non-balearic rules, use some common sense
Don't use stones that will shatter into dangerously sharp shards.
Clay is a great alternative and can be made into any size and shape you like.

Although the edible ammo stone huevos invented really cool and highly recommended for a totally environmentally friendly ammo.
