Åke W. Sjöberg, "Contributions to the Sumerian Lexicon", Journal of Cuneiform Studies 21, (1967), 275-278, on p. 275:

á-sig-se = slingstone, cf Akkadian assuku; sling is kush-da-lu-ush (Akkadian aspu).

King Shulgi (ca. 2000 BCE) says "I know the sling and the slingstone"

The goddess Inana threatens, in her fight against the mountain Ebih, to fight with arrow, slingstone, spear and throw-stick. "I will twist the slingstone like a thick rope".

Gilgamesh is described as the hero who destroys cities, and who "knows the slingstone"
