I designed such a bow. At least I have not seen this before:

interesting. However it has more draw weight than the usual one. So it should be tested if it has more power than a bow with the same draw weight.

I know nothing about springs and less about metal, but I'd think that a longer draw would reap more benefits. I'd also be curious if the real benefit was heavier arrows at about the same speed.

Cool! You could essentially fire a bolt from a smaller bow and still get sufficient power. I'm imagining a smaller version mounted on the forearm.

Thanks!
Obviously this solution gives more power. But not the speed?

If both bolts weigh the same you got more speed but not as efficiently as if you had just raised the weight on the original single prod. Still really cool though.

Thank you Morphy!

This idea is:
-  there are two bows, bow 1 and the bow 2.

-  The bow 2 is attached to the bow 1.

-  In this case, the whole the bow 2 moves of the bow 1 force.
(Sorry for my English.)

You make some neat stuff.

For some neat bow designs, check out cable backed bows and Native American compound bows, not the kind with pulleys, the kind with two bows built together.

well the point would be to get more power in the same size package.
Jlasud - more power = more draw weight. You won't get one without the other.

But packing more power into a smaller crossbow is damn clever Thumbs Up

nothing new here.  Sad double bows have been around for a long time.  Smiley using double bows on a cross bow is not new. Cry Your specific layout may be new. Wink

A paleo legal (no glue) compound bow per its designer.
made with split wood and cordage.
The trigger is notch, lift peg & lever
prods are held to notches in the tiller by the strings tension

Nice find Steven. I wonder if their is any benefit over a simpler design?

CA, more draw weight doesn't necessarily mean more speed or power.
