A lot of the biker gangs wore (still wear?) chrome plated motorcycle chains as belts.

They also wore thick leather belts with 1/2 pound (1/4 kg) or so buckles.

For those of you unfamiliar with Harley Davidson motorcycle chains, think a bicycle chain, one inch  (25mm) across.

Sorry, but it's a pet peeve of mine:  'Yea' isn't the word you want.  It's 'yeah'.  'Yea' is an anachronistic word you see in the King James bible. "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Spellcheck, I shall fear no misspellings for thou art with me.  Thy dictionary and thy thesaurus, they comfort me.

Anything can be used as a weapon with the right application of forces.

Exactly.... Even an ordinary belt can be useful (as can any piece of cordage).    Techniques I'm familiar with include holding the belt rigidly betweeen the hands to first deflect and then trap the opponent's arm, to loop behind the head and pull same down into a knee strike...
As a distraction.. snapped at the face like a while while delivering a knee kick...
One needs only have a little imagination.

Google the Indian Urumi belt-sword, its more of a steel whip, but it was frequently worn around the waist as a belt.

Yeah. My dad's technique left an impression on me.

The kind of technique's that Bikewer notes are also applicable to any chain or cordage. I've seen chain and cord based weapons used in demonstrations but I can't help but think that you'd need a ton of training to use it to bind and trap. Snapping and hitting with it- sure easy. Turning a block into a bind is darn impressive but I haven't put nearly enough time to try.

Turning a block into a blind is easier than you think. The energy created by the attack actually is all the energy needed for the bind. All you need to do is steer your hands to crisscross the belt.
