Hello from Virginia !
Sep 1st, 2014 at 11:03pm

Well I am new to "slinging".... I don't even have a real sling as of yet.   My user name comes from the radar system on an F15. I was in the US AirForce for 10 years working on F15s. Seven of which I spent in the California desert and two on Okinawa.  My other hobby.... Ham Radio and making my own antennas and such.    If you have any questions.. just ask!

APG63V1 if you are still in need of a sling PM me your address and I can mail you a couple of seat belt slings. They last forever and are perfect for tennis balls among other ammo.

Seat belt slings are some of the most comfortable and easiest to use.  They also make great snowball sings.  I like them a lot.

Seat belt slings. Never thought about that.  Sounds great.
Question.... How do you know how long of a sling to use??

That's really a personal preference. In my opinion a good rule of thumb is when your arm is hanging relaxed for the sling to be a couple of inches off of the ground.

Through trading with other members I have a whole slew of slings, one from Rat Man is all of 40" and one from Donnerschlag that is around 12", so it's really just what your are comfortable with. The ones that I produce are normally between 24" and 30".

A good general rule of thumb is to make your sling's folded length half of your height.  I'm 6'4", or at least I used to be, so my ideal sling length is 38".  Some will say to make your sling the same length as the distance from the center of your chest to your fingertips.  This will turn out to be the same length as half of your height.
