I think Apollo was a god of the sling, but he had a lot of other duties as well.

I believe the ancient Atlantians had a demigod called Herosligaclese…

As the mythology goes, he could hurl giant boulders with a golden sling woven from the hair of his goddess wife.

He could smash the gates of any city with a single whirl of his mighty sling!

…and he rode a dragon.

The sling figures strongly in Inca legend.
Viracocha, the chief god, uses it frequently. There is mention of him on some earlier postings in this forum eg.
Viracocha and his firestone: http://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1335391379

Also the Thunder god, Chiqui Illapa (there other names for the same character).

Ayar Cachi is a personage who causes so much trouble with his sling that he is shut inside a mountain.

Not only males use slings, mama huaco is a female character in the origin myths who is described using a sling.

Herakles, in Greek mythology, occasionally is shown killing the Stymphalian birds with a sling

But that is not quite the same as saying that he is a "god of the sling"-- the club and the bow are his attributes. Unlike the Incas, the Greeks do not have a strong place for the sling in their imagination.
