Rock penetration into 3/4 inch furniture grade plywood…

The rock was an oblong piece of quarts about 2" long…

The sling was something I whipped up in 5 minutes on the shooting range from some paracord and a bandolier sling.

My students had seen me using one and wanted to know what it would go through. I tried my hardest, but just couldn't get it all the way through the plywood. That furniture grade stuff is pretty strong. Too bad I didn't have any lead…

Anyone who doubts a sling stone could easily penetrate a skull is crazy. Wink

Anyone who doubts lead will go in one side and out the other is crazier... Shocked

The throw was a strong fig-8 from about 20 feet.

with an irregularly shaped rock that's a very good throw Thumbs Up

Find a nice dense round stone and try again - should go all the way through Smiley

Yea, slinging lead is scary fun…

That same day I picked up a handful of lead "splash" (whats left after you shoot a bullet at a steel target, flattened round disks of lead with sharp edges) and loaded them in the pouch.
They would zing off in all directions, but I managed to stick a number of them into the plywood like little lead shurikens.

Had a pic but can't find it…  Embarrassed

Ok that is just awesome.
Get yourself a couple of glans.
Wood molds work super well.

I've been using lead sinkers but have wanted to fool around with casting my own, just haven't gotten around to it.

I have a design for lead bionicals with little whistles in them, like on the Nerf Vortex…

Two different size whistles/pitches…because as we all know, the sound is a big part of the psychological effect.

CNC milling a 2 piece mold shouldn't be that hard either and it would be nice to be able to cast about 10 at a time.
