TheSlingin-Injun, I suggest that you try making a Rockman.  It was the first split pouch sling that I ever made and I've been very fond of it ever since.  It's not that difficult to make, looks great, is accurate, fast, and easy to use, and is very versatile in that you can toss any size and shaped ammo within reason with it.  If you take the time to make a Rockman you won't regret it.
One of the secrets of success in making a Rockman is to make sure that you cut all of the  lines that you're going to use extra long.  Almost all of us have, at least once, run out of line prior to completing our Rockman.  It's a very frustrating occurrence.

I've only ever really made native american and european style solid pouches.

And duct tape pouches! Maybe I should try to make a split-pouch duct tape sling to see if I like it before wasting a bunch of thread making one.
try this its easy and won't wast your thread http://www.seekyee.com/Slings/howtos/knotslings.htm

How would one make a "rockman" sling? I'm guessing that there is a guide somewhere on the site?

Just found one on the main site. I might try it sometime! Looks similar to belearic, just fatter on the pouch. Looks like the ones from the andes and such.

Why is it called the "rockman" anyway?

Because it was invented by Rockman.

Massi - WTF? It's called a sling. You use it to throw rocks farther and faster than you could otherwise. That's all.

Or was it posted by rockman?
Wink
So are there likely many sling designs out there no-one has ever used?

I feel stupid for forgetting to close the poll Wink

I thought I`ve seen every tutorial on the seekyee page, but this one I´ve missed. Especially I liked the version with the twist braid, so I tried it. It´s one of the simplest sling designs, all you need are two pieces of paracord, a lighter and scissors. The result is an amazing sling with a heavy stable split pouch and light single cords. I´ll post it in the picture thread together with my other recent slings as soon as I`ll take photos.

P.S. the sling at the bottom of the picture

Hi, this is my first post (as a new member), although I've been coming here for years.

My question is to English-Marauder. I love how you sowed leather on your sling. I would like to make one just like it. Is their a tutorial on it?

English hasn't posted in a long time so I'll answer for him lol
What you're trying to do is get the leather to wrap around the cord so your stitching is not going to come in contact with the stones. I like to pull the stitching tight so that it stretches the leather over the cord. I like the way you can see the braid imprinted on the leather when it pulls tight. I recommend using a saddle stitch but you could use a simple loop stitch. Oh and buy something thicker than regular sewing thread you'll be happier for it

braid dental floss and use a heavy needle.
Don't use high quality dental floss. use the cheap brands... over here, Kroger.
It is nylon fiber waxed together.
it is also cheap and extremely strong- $1 for 100 yards.

I have several balearic slings like the Rockman sling from Aussies tutorial. E.M.'s sling looks like it has more and finer weaving, and the pouch is more round. I wish they had a balearic sling tutorial like the balearic sling champion has, on Aussis tutorial page.

Sorry to bug you, but im on page 58 and still searching, lol.
