Slinging classes at Bushmoot 2013
Aug 13th, 2013 at 2:21pm

I have just got back from the Bushmoot, which is the Bushcraft UK forum annual get-together in Wales. We were camped in woodland near Merthyr Mawl, past Cardiff.

As well as being kept busy on the atlatl and tomahawk have-a-go ranges, I taught two classes of Basic Slinging and one class of Advanced Slinging.

The basic slinging course was done in some nearby sand dunes that gave us a 360 degree backstop and easy ball retrieval. The ammo was tennis balls and the technique I taught was initially Helicopter but I changed to Balearic after the class got better results with it.

This is one of the Basic Slinging classes:

For the advanced slinging class I started by making a butterfly pouch sling with leather and paracord and then turned them loose to make their own:

Then we trekked through the dunes down to the sea:

So now there are nine more slingers in the UK!
