Okay, should we standardize slinging technique, or should any technique be allowed?

No restrictions. Slinging is really personal and a small enough community as it is, we don't want to alienate anyone because they use a different style.

Nope. Restrictions in slinging technique and materials are the primary things about the Balearic ruleset that really grind my gears, for reasons Dan has already elaborated on. (I'm one of the ones it alienates)
No need to make the same mistake more than once

If there are restrictions, I am gone, with most of our members.
Dan put it well.

I agree with what has already been stated. As a novice I don't want to be limited in what style I am allowed to use, as I may be better at one and not the preferred competition option(s).

Alright.  I voted for no Restrictions as well.  I like the idea of being able to use whatever style I like as well.

Sounds like the govt. Trying to create their own problems. Why control/regulate everything when you don't have to?

then make yourself a target with a metal component.
Try and look at targets from te point of view of the person who owns or has to maintain it.
If someone were slinging at your house/car because they liked the noise it made - you would not be happy.
please treat other people's property the way you'd want them to treat yours Thumbs Up

Stevens idea with the threaded rod is great one - spotted a box full of different diameter threaded rod at a local hardware store recently - it's surprisingly cheap.
As are the nuts to fit it. It's also easy to cut to length with a cheap hacksaw.

Lots of options once you've done that as well. wrap it in cheap modelling clay.
when the clay eventually breaks - you've still got the core that can be rewrapped almost indefinitely - well assuming you haven't totally lost it Smiley

It should be about accuracy. It shouldn't matter how you get to the destination.
