You can make a net needle out of almost anything. This is the one I made out of a piece of 2" pvc.  I used a drill to make a series of holes around the needle and then cleaned them up into a slot with a file and sandpaper.

Nice looking nets tinmann.  Nice needle walter.  I have used your drilling to make needles from paintg stirring sticks and rulers,  No whittling required, just filing and sanding.  Tony

Here I go. Complicating a simple project.  First I removed the side strings and tied the side meshes together using the sheet bend but NO gauge.
...
Next I took away the end loops.  Starting at A (either end) I went across the end row tying into 2 meshes each time.
...
I tied 20 rows to hake a shoulder strap.  To make a simple short handle only tie a couple of rows.
...
To tie back into the body of the bag I put a loop through the middle of the handle to stretch the netting apart,  I first tied into the first 2 loops of the 8 and then back to the handle in  the numerical sequence shown.
...

My first net is already in use as a storage net, but I`ll try to look into this as my next net project.

It helps.  But I still wonder if all the side meshes is tied together, or just as many as in the first project Smiley

Edit- I decided same as previous was right for my project, now it`s time to next part, the handle/strap Smiley

Here is my new net.  I decided it was a bit small to require a full shoulder strap so I made just a carry handle.  I`d prefer a shoulder bag/net to be made from stronger and preferably thicker cordage (= make suitable needle), and perhaps with a larger gauge.

You have it timann.  Nice bag.  You can tie into as many side meshes as you want.  Fewer meshes tied into will make a shallower bag.  As you have discovered you can alter the tutorial to suit your needs.  Tony

Thanks.  And yes, I realize I can make a lot of stuff with the knowledge I already got.  Seriously cool.  And interesting.  Finding an effective way to handle the to-be net, needle, gauge, how to make the sheet bends without disrupting something was in itself an interesting challenge.
I fear this net making stuff could easily be a little addictive.

I made a sling stone net.  I tested it in the weekend, and it worked surprisingly well.  Because of the cold I was a bit hampered by my clothing, so I has to do some adjustments later (the sides are closed with slipknots).  I must make sure  the ammo dont fall out but still can be accessable with one hand.  Those who have seen my videos know I prefer to reload fast, without looking away from the target.  To make this happen the ammo net need to be adapted to the purpose.  Fortunately it`s just part of the fun, I`m glad I took the time to learn how to make nets.

That is a very nice net.  I often tell people that netting can be both beautiful and utilitarian.  Your net proves my point.  Tony

Thanks.  walter, I got enough stones to keep me going for a while when the zombie apocalypse comes. These are about 200 - 250 grams.
asemery, nets can indeed look god and be practical.   Once I was not aware of that Smiley

After looking into the pineapple forum I just now figured out ways to make nets while they is gathered in a loop.  Could come in handy.
