Hello to all of you.

It`s great how many slingers there are around. Finally I found people to share this uncommon interest with. My first encounter with slinging was many years ago, after having seen an old David vs. Goliath movie (I think it`s mentioned in the movie thread here). Unfortunately my slinging experiments did not work, cause I tried to copy the style I`ve seen on TV. There the stone flew away without release of a cord, but only by acceleration of the sling in the last spin. Concluding that one of the two cords has to be released I made some more tries, but I never found the right technique. I always liked archeology themes, primitive skills (without being professional like many in this forum), knives, throwing boomerangs, also made some basic experiments with very simple atlatls, throwing some sticks. Well, I don´t remember how exactly I picked up again the particular interest for slinging, but in May this year I looked for some information in the web and discovered slinging.org. The first day I tried to build the simple sling by Chris Harrison as shown in the how to`s section. Using single unbraided hemp cords and without knowledge how to sling I made some wild overhead throws with too small stones. The next day I watched repeatedly the videos by David Taylor and after some more days started with the Tut-sling following the Timothy Potter tutorial, thinking that a cupped pouch would be better for a beginner. Having finished it I finally started “serious” slinging, finding my personal slinging style and improving it. Since May I built a lot of slings, sometimes one every day, taking almost every idea from you guys on the forum. Slinging and sling-making became my favorite hobby, with the side-effects that I´m always looking for cord and pouch materials in shops and for sling stones everywhere. My slinging site is a lake near my home, where I throw the stones in, but I don´t have a good place to practice accuracy (i.e. shooting against a target that is not the lake surface). Having read the whole “pictures of slings and slinging” and some other threads, it was time to sign up and register. Here I am. Thanks to all of you for the great pics, advices and experiences.
