Here is the sling I received from Teg. It's a really beautiful braided polyester design, constructed in the same split pouch style that he says he usually makes from hemp. The end result is very colourful and looks much more delicate than anything I have ever braided. Although its of light construction it seems very durable with a certain density to it and, though thin, it definitely does not feel weak.
I'm yet to use it in anger, though I have managed to test it indoors with a hacky sack. Being a split pouch it had a tendency for the beanbag to slip off, so I'll have to test it properly with rocks when I get a chance to do so. One element that is very different to my own designs is the lack of knot on the release cord, so I shall be interested to see how I get on with that. I shall persevere because it would be criminal to put an ugly knot on a sling as delicate as this!
Thanks again, Teg!

Guess who received this sling ?
I tried a close up to show the world the craftmanship you will all miss... but the emotions did shaken me too much :
Well, I already love it :
I have yet to try it, but it seems perfect for lead, golf balls or avocado...

Without even checking I knew that you got your sling from Donnerschlag, Caldou. He does beautiful work. I've traded with him a few times. His slings perform as good as they look.

Thank ye kindly
I gotta say, I haven't tried slinging avocados yet. They're too tasty for that
(Although it will easily handle up to tennis ball/fist-sized rocks, so I don't see why not. lol)

When I want to sling avodaco, I also eat them first and then let the nut dry before slinging it :p
I like how this one can stay in it's heart shaped form
(It's my colleague that have seen this :p)

Brett, if you didn't do it yourself, I might have accidentally deleted your post. I'm not really sure what happened. I was just about to comment on the sling that Dan sent you, my screen jumped, then your post was gone. If it was me or my computer that deleted your post, it wasn't intentional. Sorry.

My post self-deleted the first time I uploaded it. I then re-uploaded it and whatever happened to you happened. My guess is that it had more to do with the post than with you. Will repost.

Dan's sling to me. Leather and jute(?) 36". By far the most substantial sling I've ever used. Was throwing tennis-ball sized rocks no problem. Worked very well, good range, good accuracy.

Nice sling. I have a few big slings like that, of several types. "War Slings" are fun to make and use. Also they tend to last forever.

I just love the feel of those really substancial slings.
Take note of the way the Release cord ends. I use that on every natrual fiber sling I make now. It prevents it from fraying to nothing and everntually having the knot slip out.
All you have to do is leave a little extra cordage and tie the release knot, reverse twist it a bit, and then tie another knot and cut off the excess with about 1/2in of fray. You grip the lower knot and have something substancial that won't wear out to hold on to.
I'm glad you like it Brett.

I was wondering - the attachment to the pouch is whipped on the retention cord and woven in on the other side. Why?

I pretty much made a very very small finger loop through the pouch on the release cod side. You just pull the cords about 2-3inches through, fold them over, and braid like normal. So it isn't woven, it's just folded over and braided into the release cord.
With the retention cord. I already folded it over to make the finger loop so I just pulled the finished cord through, folded and glued it, then added a whipping to keep it from coming through.

I've got a new sling. I received the Rat Man sling. Well woven, smooth tact and easy run. It's a beauty tool. Thanks Rat Man, thanks slinging.org.
I show you.
