Another good one would be hot wing eating.  That's an event I'd actually stand a chance of winning the gold in.

Oh, you're on Rat man.  Grin

Here's a good old fashioned competition, distance spitting.

Jim Carmichael wrote that in his town there were two spitting contests, one for distance and the other for accuracy.

He also wrote about an elephant lynching, but that's a story for another day.

Well, I'm Canadian so I would like to see a biathlon where you skate really far then stop and eat as many beaver tails as you can (not real beaver tails Tongue Beaver Tails are a sort of cinnamon flavoured pastry in the shape of an oval, really tasty Wink)

I think Canada would do well because in our capital we have a canal that becomes a big skating rink in the winter and people skate up and down and they sell Beaver Tails Grin

I have always liked the Olympics, especially when I found out my great great uncle was the flag bearer for my country back in the 1936 Olympics and won a silver medal in the 1934 British Empire games Tongue He was also in the Olympic Comitee for a while and is in the Olympic Hall of Fame.

Oops I got a little off topic! Shocked Sorry about that! Embarrassed

They really need an international farting competition. I wonder what the olympic uniform for that competition would look like??? Roll Eyes Mens and Womens divisions of course. Grin

An excerpt from the report on such a contest:

Throwing is one thing, how about catching them. Similar to the javelin catching but potentially not as messy.  Shocked

In Ancient Crete (I believe) they had a ritual sport that works out to bull vaulting.
They would release a bull into the arena, and the competitor would run at it, leap, do a hand stand between the bull's horns, then backflip down it's back.
Think anyone would be willing to try that today??

I think you'll find that modern rodeo clowns do very similiar things.

One particular event, a bag of money is tied between the bulls horns and the clowns have to snatch it.
This is also how it was done in crete I believe with a ribbon tied between the horns.

Not sure if any of the clowns somersault over the horns - but I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of them did Smiley
Quite a lot do so - involuntarily  Shocked

Rodeo clown is not a job for a sane person Smiley

One thing I really like about the way americans do bull fighting as opposed to the spanish  Angry
In america the bull has the upper hand, clowns have no weapons and absolutely bugger all chance if the bull decides he's gonna stomp them.

Got it! A belly flop competition! Graded not only on water displacement, but on the decibels of the smack as you hit the water. You could even have different heights.
Considering how overweight Americans are, we would have the edge on this one.
