The Zombie Apocolypse.

Chatted with Torc. I did not even know you could live chat with someone on Facebook.

Brilliant guy. He is typical of "We, The Slingers" We really are the most interesting people on Earth, given our collective spectrum of interest.

He has this poster on his page. What do you think of this? Is it the most perfect comment on the world tody for me and encompasses puts into words, what i have never been able to.

Somehow, i think the Slingers on this page will get it.

It's usualy not smiled apon to post stuff with that kind of language due to some of our members being minors.
I understand what your post is saying and i agree with it, but do not agree with the profanity do to minor members.
Please try to show restarint and forthought in your future posts.

The only point focused on is not the facts but the one profanity.

I posted this on my fb page because it sums up the meek nature of our youth and masses.

The profanity is in the language of the masses so that it might penetrate the mind fog.

Like Greenman said, the time is here...all that needs to happen is removal of their comfort and they will go for blood.

True as that may be profanity is not welcome here.  We get all sorts of people reading our forums; different age groups, backgrounds, religions, etc...  We're going to keep our content appropriate for all of them.

I had to read some poem in Lit last year and the guy was describing his visit to the aquarium and how the fish were 'mindlessly wandering place to place with no intelligence' (paraphrased) and then he looked at the other people in the aquarium and noticed how as people we aren't much different.

Mindlessly going around with no purpose to life, I could see an epic poem comparing modern society to the zombie apoclopse that would be pretty deep. Maybe write it with less profanity than the poster but I can definitely see it.  Wink

Maybe even a sunday school lesson.   Cheesy

As one of the older members, and a fluent "speaker" myself, I have a hard time getting upset by salty language.
Hate speech, sure.  Deep ignorance... You bet.   Artfully-applied "naughty words"?  Not so much.  I come from the generation that spawned Lenny Bruce and George Carllin... Making a big fuss over a word that good old Anglo-Saxon roots and is in most dictionaries seems...  Kinda silly.

As to the thrust of the statement itself; I don't think this is anything new.   I seem to recall a rant by one of the Greek philosophers (Plato?  Can't recall...) going on about the "youth of today" and how they were stupid, lazy, wilfully-ignorant young slackers.  Well, he didn't say "slackers" but he expressed essentially the same thing that every "older generation" since has expressed.  "Those Kids!"

First, I promise you that you can't find language that would offend me.  I don't think that anyone is making a big fuss.  No one is upset with Greenman and he isn't being reprimanded or punished in any way.  Many of our members, myself included, have occasioally needed a small reminder from time to time that slinging.org is a class act and we intend to stay that way.  It's really not a big deal.

I could totatly see that the 'younger generation' was always a group of 'rebels', I think that's just family dynamics (in addition to things just changing). But the poem I read in Lit. ( about wandering mindlessly) was also reffering to adults as well and I think, although it's not as evident, it can be very true.

okay - so blanked out word aside. And my personal opinion is that people who frequently use swear words do so because they lack the intelligence and vocabulary to use the correct word instead of just something beginning with F.

Anyway, the storm in a teacup aside - the poster is rubbish. Sorry torc but EVERYBODY has the same freedom to choose what they read and watch and see. Nobody is being forced into anything.
Information is easier to find and access now than at any point in previous history. So if someone choose to be informed - they can be.
If they choose to think modern literature is what you read on the back of cereal packets - that is their choice and right to do so.

Some people prefer apathy to activity - and that's their choice.

It may not be yours, but so what - who should you care what they choose ?

Yeah when I was at college I knew everything, nobody could tell me anything and what I believed was right and what other people believed was wrong.

Fortunately most of us grow up and realise the world is not black and white and that what someone else believes is up to them.
Live and let live becomes something you actually understand the less time you have left to live.

Some people never grow up and insist that their way is the only way.
Don't let that be you Smiley

Sorry. I have to do this in multiple posts.

C-A, Your'e absolutely right. No-one is being forced into anything. It not about Force. It's about filling peoples minds with fear, doubt and suspicion, so they will give up their rights and accept yor way as the only solution because they are being raised to not question.

To me these people are Zombies.

Fair enough. But there is such a thing a "Majority Rules" If enough people are filled with fear, doubt and suspicion, and someone gives them an "Enemy" to focus their fear, doubt and suspicion on, they will give up their rights to a government that promises them a solution. These same people are stupid enough to miss that the government probably came up with "The Enemy" in the first place.

Those of us who do not stupidly accept the reality we are given now have to battle the government and our own who believe the lie, simply because they are too lazy, willfully blind and gutless to stand up for their rights. Easier and more comfortable to give them up instead and sit there and complain.

To me I see Zombies.

Recently, perpetualstudent started a thread on martial arts styles.

Dan stated: “If you want tradition and forms and fancy silk belts, take kung fu.”

You responded by saying: “Don't dismiss what you obviously know nothing about. Just makes you sound like someone with insufficient experience to judge anything.”
