Slinging.org advertise itself again! Next 2 June!

Hallo people!
I gladly inform you that next 2 June I'll partecipate to the traditional event "Dalla preistoria all'età dei metalli" (From prehistory to the metal age), that will take place in the wonderful scenery of the Abbazia di Fiastra:

Built in 1142, the abbey will host this event for the Republic's Day. This will be the fifth edition of this experimental archaeology meeting, and we'll have:
- a flintknapping stand;
- bone, leather, wood working stand + stone age weapons show;
- prehistoric painting, fire making stand + stone age weapons show;
- Bronze Age cooking! With bread and soups making, eating and wine drinking

;
- iron smithing (that's me! woo-hoo!) and bronze casting (in the same stand, the Iron Age one) + stone age weapons and Iron Age weaponry and clothes show;
- another bronze casting stand (Bronze Age).

Unfortunately, this year my friend Doc. Elena Ciccarelli will be unable to show her Bronze Age weaving and tailoring skills, for she's in Oxford, UK!
But of course my stand will have its anthropological section, proudly sponsored by Slinging.org! The event will take place from 8 am to... the bitter end, entry is free and, for the third time, we'll have journalists

If he didn't move, he is in Switzerland, in the german speaking part.

And he is with us since 2006, so way before me and you Wink

An easy trick to find such info, click on the name and look at the 2000 previous posts Cheesy

And the next time you told us something like this at least 6 months before, I will consider. Or less if I'm in Italy or borderland :p

I'll be at Montelago Celtic Night this summer, in August

A huge festival with 4000 tents usually, in a beautiful scenery in the Apennines. Consider it!!
How do you know Teg is in Switzerland, by the way? I clicked on his name, and (apart that he wrote 78 posts, not 2000 Wink

) he just wrote he's in central Europe.
Well it doesn't matter, both of you are invited to the Montelago Celtic Night, which's better for a foreigner for it's an event lasting 3 days!

I'm still from Switzerland, german speaking part, as Caldou already found out. (Hint: Have a look at the first post I ever made Wink

)
Mhh... 3/4 of august and the festival description sounds quite nice... (if its this festival: http://www.montelagocelticfestival.it/le-iniziative-del-festival/ )
It's only about 10h by train from my current hometown, so I'm able to plan on quite short notice.
The only thing is, I will have some exams in July/August/September and I still don't know when they will take place.
But as soon as I know when they will take place, I'll let you know if I'll be there!

Yes, that is the festival!
The entrance for 3 days cost 15 or 20 €, i can't remember Angry

Luckily the first time I went there I surprisingly met a friend of mine selling the tickets, so I entered for free; this year I'll be speaking at a meeting and will have my own banquet so perhaps I'll not pay even this year.
Just in case you're coming, I'll work something out to let you in for free. It's the 3rd and 4th of August; if you don't have exams and can have a holiday, come in before and we'll go camping somewhere, I know some abandoned castles that will make fine headquarters Wink

Which exams do you have to do???

Its some advanced physical chemistry (mostly spectroscopy) as well as advanced quantum mechanics. I'll get the dates in approx 2-5 weeks. I'll let you know as soon as I have the dates!

Have to think about coming over for republic day next year - okay so i don't speak italian but I could do a silent slinging demo

Flight costs in august way too high, as soon as the kids start summer holiday the flight costs double.

Here I am!
Know that this Montelago Celtic Night is one of the most important European festivals of the Celtic culture (I think it's the 3rd, after one in Normandy and another one between France and Italy, but I'm not sure).
Therefore it attracts a lot of people; imagine a huge plain in the middle of the mountains, divided in two halves: on the left there's the camping zone, that can host up to 4000 tents, while the right half is partially bounded by banquets: bars, flea markets, clothes, weapons, games, whatever. Among them there's the Tolkien Tent, where fantasy literature is discussed: this's where I'll speak, about iron smithing, slinging and archery.
The North side of this right half is where they build the stage, where many bands will play Celtic music during the weekend. In the middle there're few more tents, hosting re-enactment groups and their banquets. Here will be mine too: with 3 friends, we'll be selling clothes and cloaks, paintings, weapons and jewelry.
There's also a space reserved to the games: tug of war, throwing a log, archery... I arrived 2nd in this competition, 2 years ago

This is, in general terms, the Montelago Celtic Night.
For me it's a special event, for we dug an Early Middle Age cemetery a hundred meters North of the stage. There were Lombard people in the graves, so the link with this Celtic festival is evident

Hey that's a great news!
I don't know if there's anything like this in September, but Tuscany is one of the most active Italian Regions in re-enacting! There will surely be something, and if there's not, you'll always enjoy the many beauties that Region has to offer!
I'll let you know, and we'll meet for sure, it's just 250km from my house, I'd love to meet you too!
And if you have a free day, you can come here on the East coast, we can take one of our boats and go diving Wink

How long will you stay in Italy?? And when do you think of coming?
PS of course you'll be my guest if you're having a trip here in the Marche
