Yes, the winds were clocked at 70 mph.  Beryl was practically a category one hurricane.  She's back out to sea now, dumping some rain on us.  She's supposed to strengthen then get pushed harmlessly out into the Atlantic.  Our early heat wave broke last night, thankfully.

Beryl is right off the South Jersey coast right now.  What's next?  The weather bureau says this will be an average year for hurricanes.  Believe it or not I don't have a guess.  The weather's got me baffled these days.

This is probably Beryl's fault. Why else would there be a pelican in Western New York????

It just showed up out of the blue last Saturday, dazed and confused. That's when the remnants of the storm hit us. Yesterday it flew off for parts unknown.

That's totally wild.  I've never seen one even as far north as here in New Jersey.  That boy was really lost.

I've seen brown pelicans frequently in Delaware during the warmer months. But never a white one. Shocked

It looks like Debbie is headed out to sea now so she won't be a factor in the Delaware Valley's weather.  We've got a God-awful heat wave on the way starting tomorrow and there's no end in sight to it.  I'll have to start getting up at 5:00 AM to walk the Huskies before it gets too hot.

Bleh. That sucks for you and your huskies.  It's a pity to see it end, I've really enjoyed these last couple of days of cooler weather around the NYC,NJ area.

Amen to that.  I need to hit the lottery and move way north.  My friend Del was at the vets about a week ago with his dog for a check up during one of the very hot days from the last spell.  Another patient had been jogging in the morning (it was still very hot, like 90 F. already) with his two year old black Lab.  The dog was brought in with a temperature of 110 and it died in the office.  All dogs, not just Huskies, suffer in the heat.  Take care of your beasts.

It's still stinking hot.  The day before yesterday we had two monster thunderstorms here.. one in the morning and one late at night.  Maximum lightning with plenty of hail, wind, and rain.  We're OK but our local electric company still has over 200,000 customers without power and it's 97 F. here.  It looks like there's another of those big storms headed our way maybe late tonight or in the wee hours.  It's in Ohio and has to cross Pennsylvania yet.  I'm not all that afraid of storms but loosing power would really suck.

Good Lord, there still 30,000 homes without power in New Jersey from last Friday's twin monster storms.  It's been going into the high 90's every day since.  It was the real deal here in the Northeast.  It's supposed to go up to 100 F. on Saturday.  Hopefully their power will be back on by then.
