I've been out there a few times. I just love these Woods. I know the plants, the wildlife, the good bow woods, the terrain, and the tactics you use when out in the woods because it's where I've grown up.

And you are also in bear and elk country up there, which is cool.

Though not by me, black bears have been seen in our campsite. We also hear coyotes at night. I've yet to see any elk up there. That would be really cool.

If you are in that area and you don't see elk, you are really only a short drive away. Elk are pretty amazing animals and you realize how big they are untill you've stalked them in the woods to less than 20 yards.

Though in CO (where my wife hails from) the elk are comparable to deer back east. Nuisances at best and that size difference really becomes clear when they become one with your car

I had some interesting pictures on my old hard drive. I'll have to see if she still has them. Yes, they dwarf the white tail deer I'm used to seeing.

I've only seen the elk and their size does command respect. I stood next to a stuffed moose at a cabella's store back in Nebraska and they dwarf the elk Shocked

Truly awesome creatures that I really don't want to run afoul of. Though I'm told that tourists visiting yellowstone and other parks with elk routinely have to be told to keep their distance from the herd and (amazingly) not to try to put their child on the back of an elk.

moose are north america only and are HUGE seen them in canada.
elk are similiar but slightly smaller - reindeer are half the size of either.

sounds like a decent camping trip.

So any really nasty biting critters up there ?

Went camping in algonquin park in ontario a few years back. made the mistake of going during blackfly season.

Never, ever, ever again !
They make the midges round the scottish lochs look like soft southern part timers.

Thanks, Ulrica. C_a, the worst biting critters up there were mosquitoes. Living in South Jersey I'm very used to mosquitoes. A local joke is that they're our state bird. We also have deer flies (nasty), chiggers, and green heads (monstrous). A green head will bite you through several layers of clothing and if you don't hit him hard enough he'll get up and hit you back. The few mosquitoes there at the campsite really weren't much of a problem to me. I'm grateful that black heads haven't found their way up there.
I don't have pictures of the very scenic vistas. I stayed back and watched the camp this time while the others went and took pictures. When they send me the scenic pictures I'll post some here. It really is a gorgeous place.
