What creeps you out?

I don't like caricatures of human beings: Dolls, wax figures, dummies, clowns, automatons, certain kinds of statues, and especially people dressed up like dead people like Elvis imitators, zombies and vampires.  No Sir, I don't like it...................

Spiders; maggots; anything that scurries and scratches around in the dark especially when I'm sleeping outdoors; people you know who live a double life like this local guy Ted Haggard who actively preached against certain lifestyles then when not behind the pulpit lived the lifestyle he spoke against. Essentially anyone, particularly a public figure living a lie theny lying about it. John Edwards is another one that comes to mind.

Not much...at 65, with 40+ years in police work, I have a pretty thick skin.

I don't really fear anything. There are many things that I find annoying though like chiggers, ticks, mosquitoes, rats, etc. But then again I also find out-of-control small children and children's cartoons annoying as well so maybe that's not the best qualification.
The first few nights outdoors without a tent on my own were a little scary I suppose. But once I got past that I now actually enjoy the various noises in the woods at night.

Spiders  seriously creep me out... I can be around them ...I can hold them; but I really have to work at it to do so.

Although for creepy factor, I'm not a fan of roaches. I don't know why. I know they're not any sort of threat, but they kind of creep me out.

The cry of a red fox nearby at night when you don't know what it is. Sounds like a child being murdered.

I think the last time I was unsettled was at the unveiling of my first cadaver in the anatomy lab and one of the grad students removed the cadaver's sternum and ribs, with meaty bits sticking to it.

Yeah, spiders creep me out. And monkeys to. I never liked them at all. Chimpanzee's freak me out the most. Dont know why, I just dont like them at all. They seem to be the most dangerous in my mind. I cant back that up with facts, its just an assumption I have always been under. I like the big Apes, but not small monkeys. And sharks. They freak me out to. I dont like them either.

I am not a priest nor a fool, but I serve an awesome God who is always in control.
Romans 8:31 "What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who (or in this case, what) can be against us?" I respect things like sharks, lions, heights, firearms, and sharp edges. But I have no reason to fear them.

There are a lot of things I don't like (like spiders) and even some things I hate. I just don't see the reasoning behind being afraid of an arachnid/insect smaller than your thumb. Now Brain Eating ameobas, that's another story.  Wink

Well the charge of a wild boar is quite frightening, especially if she's a mother with too young puppets.
But when you manage to escape by climbing a tree, and watch her trying to eradicate that tree with her fangs... well the fear turns into excitement!
I love wild boars  kiss
Greetings,
Mauro.

EDIT: a friend of mine is scared by cats. Oh come on. And another is scared of butterflies. Come on, butterflies!

You should try digging a priest who died in early 1800. He still had his nails (that twisted) and his thingy (aka genital organ). We had to cut the corpse in 2 halves, removing his clothes, and of course I left the lower half to a female friend of mine  Grin while I was walking with the upper half.
Yes I'll probably go to hell but science is science. Oh, the smell of that old priest... eau de corpse #5.
And there were dead larvae all around his body. It was a strange burial nonetheless.
Greetings,
Mauro.

I wonder if some people have "fears" that aren't really fears. In other words, what if someone in their youth said they were afraid of butterflies as an attention ploy or whatever, and since then have been repeatedly convincing themselves that they are, in fact, afraid of butterflies, and have thus over time created a fear which really was never there to begin with. No slight intended against your friend, Mauro, I'm just thinking out loud (or it text, as it were).

No offense taken, I often wonder how is possible that someone who's scared by butterflies can still be among my friends  Cheesy

I'm somewhat claustrophobic. As a child I played in some tight spaces like long sewer pipes.  Also we used to dig deep caves.  Fortunately Mom put a stop to that before anything tragic happened.  As a cable TV technician I'd often have to go deep into some very tight crawl spaces, sometimes over a hundred feet, always with the possibility of raccoons, rats, bats, spiders, etc. being present.  So you wouldn't think that I was claustrophobic, but often I wake up from bad dreams about being stuck in some tight spaces.  Just thinking about it now creeps me out.  I guess it's a fear that I, at least in my conscience life, have learned to deal with.
