What Makes You See Red?
Apr 21st, 2012 at 8:44am

So what make you blow your top, loose your cool, gets your goat, or whatever?  I don't have to think hard about this one.  For me it's bullies.  I was mercilessly bulled from the age of five to around sixteen.  Now when I observe a bully in action I can actually go into a blind rage.  It's one of the few times when my reason gets completely put aside.  I feel obligated to give the bully a taste of his own medicine.
So what REALLY gets to you?

Well, it would be easier to tell you what DOESN'T make me mad: small animals playing with each other.

Unfortunately I inherited my mother's fiery Irish temper and almost anything can set me off. Like RM, the biggest thing that makes me mad is abuse; be it bullying a smaller kid, hurting your significant other, or torturing an animal. I have no tolerance for people who get off on being cruel to someone or something that can't fight back. I had an abusive teacher early on that that made me afraid of talking to authority figures for years. The year after I got out of that class, the bullying started from my classmates and didn't end until I finally had to guts (and training) to turn on the bullies many years later. Now I go berserk when I see or hear about any form of abuse.

Seeing children being abused. Very few things make me more homicidal than seeing a child being abused by the people who are supposed to protect them. I understand punishment, it's needed at times, but there's a difference between discipline and abuse. When parents are obviously indulging their tempers instead of proper discipline I'd like nothing better than to inflict on them proportional abuse.

I used to have a horrible temper, but I've learned (partially through discipline when I was a child) to control it for the most part. But child abuse I cannot abide.

Yeah, the abuse of the helpless for me, be it human or animal.

However, I also have very little tolerance for people driving like idiots and endangering all and sundry because they are "in a hurry".

Last time I got really pissed was watching this. Warning: This WILL piss you off. If this had been my baby I'm not sure what I would have done. I like to think that I would have let the police handle it, but I can't say for sure.  Angry Angry

Misunderstanding/major ignorance. Especially with pure stereotyping. This was something else pretty annoying: http://www.eface.in/denmark-is-a-big-shame-to-whole-world/

Long story short, there are no 'calderon dolphins'. The whales in the pictures aren't endangered, and are the Faroe Island's chief source of food, supplies, and income. It's like telling the Middle East to stop producing oil, or China to stop manufacturing goods. The misinformation makes me want to rip my hair out.

I've also been running on around 5 hours of sleep each night for the last few weeks, studying my ass off, etc. My history teacher gave us a two projects, a large homework packet, and 7 extended answer questions on Friday, all due on Monday, along with crap tons of other homework in other subjects. I don't complain about homework, but when I'm stressed and my parents start yelling at me for getting a B on a test, telling me to study harder, etc I get really really pissed.

A teacher, who I thankfully don't have, assigned a 3 page essay. The catch is that you need 20 first person sources, 10 secondary sources, and 30 pages of notes, handwritten. God damn, what kind of homework is that? He's a history teacher, and has done his best to destroy it. History is my favorite subject, and it get's me really annoyed when it's taught incorrectly, such as by turning it into blind memorization.

Plenty of screwed up kids in my school that are really disrespectful. E.G, there are people who when walking in your direction, will intentionally shove you out of the way, rather than walking around. And I don't mean accidentally walking into someone. Normally when two people pass each other, they naturally get out of the way. In this case, when one party moves out of the way, the other intentionally screws with you. It's like they have to act larger, be louder than everyone else. They don't bother me, or target anyone specifically, it's just annoying when someone who's just minding their own business get's yelled in their face, then shoved out of the way. Thankfully they're a minority, and their tactics haven't seemed to gotten them any popularity either.

If it was my child the police would be investigating the curious disaperance of a local nanny.

It goes along with what makes me see red and it is bullying in all of its forms.

OH Boy, here we go
Abuse in any form, be it bullying, child abuse, or abuse of power.
Deliberate ignorance.
Cuts to education and arts, but the sports teams get all the money they want, because, they're a "priority". (Happening here in Buffalo)

I just recalled something. Really crazy corporal punishment ticks me off. I've got nothing against a parent whacking a child upside the head, if they deserved it. But I recall reading an article somewhere where a principal somewhere in Texas was really heavy handed, and gave some kid some serious back injuries. Nothing permanent, but the kid had to be sent to the ER. Principal got off scot free, no one cared. That's just crazy sh!t. If someone did that to me I'd go and belt them in the kidneys with my gym lock and call it self defense. Actually, if they did it where I lived it would probably be to one of the kids more prone to trouble, like those in gangs. Then I'd almost feel sorry for the principal when the Crips or Bloods target him.

Oh, TV that portays men as nothing more than ignorant buffoons. They want nothing more than to drink beer, watch sports  and drive big trucks.but they can't walk into the kitchen without setting it on fire or blowing it up.

Inaccurate biased and/or stupid reporting. Really, really tees me off. Consequently when I want news I read BBC or watch PBS.

Good one, sb.  All of the men I know are right at home in the kitchen.  Many of them, like myself, can cook as good as or better than their wives.  My friend Del is one of the best cooks I know.  Where TV gets the idea that men can't boil water I don't know.  Most of the worlds greatest chefs are men.
I don't wish to take anything away from women with this statement.  My mother was the best cook I ever knew and much of what I do in the kitchen came from her.  There are many excellent, world renowned women chefs.  It's  just that women usually aren't portrayed as idiotic buffoons in the kitchen.
This notion that men are village idiots in the kitchen started way back with the 1950s sitcoms. It's time to put it to rest forever.

I usualy have a pretty impressive way of staying calm. When I get a little angry I just stop talking so I don't say anything I regret and that usualy works out well.

Occasionaly I do get that kind of righteous anger that just makes you want to spring into action. Things like Muslim Raiders in Africa, Sin, Abortion, rape and women being mistreated, kids being brainwashed, Pride, the enviormental movement, the liberal media, and the way Christianity and God are thought of/taught by most of society.

And occasionaly I get mad I at myself when I messsed something up or didn't do something I should have. It doesn't get my blood boiling or anything I just get frusturated that I made a mistake.

I almost never watch the news anymore, the only thing I can hope that has is true is the weather, and that doesn't even usualy turn out to be true either.
