Mauro, nice photos. Beware that my Bro,Chuck Rocks, may add copies to his archive of hurling device images. I was in Lucca a few years back with a tour group. In our free time my wife and I walked around the city center, ate some gelato, and saw an argument between a housewife and a prostitute. No trabucchi, though.
C_A, I'm not sure how to answer your question. This is a really atypical setup. Normally the hinged counterweight is used to give as more-vertical dropping path for increased efficiency over trebs with a fixed CW. Fixed CW trebs also tend to be unstable. My CW obviously can't drop vertically; I give up some efficiency for a longer drop, drop being as important as the amount of weight being dropped, if not moreso. It is dead stable. The short end of the arm is "bent" to give more leverage at the end of the throw where the sling is giving the most resistance and to improve the geometry of the dropping path. Sorry if the details are eye-glazingly boring. Anyhow I guesstimate that I get 60% more distance than a conventional setup this size if not more. And there's room for development; this is still an early stage.
SlingBadger, I try to shoot when he's not home.
