Pretty much a helicopter guy. Works for him, so why not

Just depends on the area and/or season as far as I can tell. I've been in areas where you could walk within 5 meters of a rabbit and do a helicopter wind-up longer than Jaegoors and they will not budge. And I've seen the extreme opposite of that. It just depends on the situation.

Maybe the game in europe is just more stupid. Tongue

I know with the white tails and squirrels hear in this day and age, they would be a hundred yards off by the time you released your sling after more than 2 roations.

Even Paleoarts usauly only has a 10% sucess rate with sling hunting, he has just been doing it for so long it seems like more.

Interesting point about the location, not as funny as it seems. As I recall Jaegoor's hunting success came in Kazakstan. And I have also read about a hunter in Afghanistan who had success hunting antelopes with slings because the animals were used to the sound of stones falling from the steep slopes around them and were not alarmed whereas the sight and sound of guns scared them off instantly.

Here in Victoria the local crow population has migrated into the cities as the food supply in the county became scarce during years of drought. These citified crows are nowhere near as wary as their country cousins who all know what guns are and keep well away from humans. Just yesterday I was out walking and there was a crow foraging on the grass not 20' away. He was keeping an eye on me and would have been instanly off if I'd moved in his direction but if I'd had a slingshot there's no way he'd have lived to warn his mates about this particularly nasty human.

Was it 10%? For some reason I thought he said 1 in 20... Maybe that was an older post though and he got better or maybe I'm remembering it wrong... Either way I am convinced nothing will make you more accurate than regular hunting sessions with a sling. If you ever start feeling like you're really starting to get the hang of the whole accuracy game start hunting squirrels from 40 meters and it will give you a whole new perspective on things and a new appreciation for our ancestors as well... Huh

Yeah, I went slinging (and did a little free running too) in the woods yesterday, I haven't felt so awkward slinging since I started. Grin

Occasionaly you'd get to a spot where you could get proper footing and the target was at a reasonable location and you could get a hit, but the other times were mostly just close misses. I was using a 22in sling which helped a lot and using rocks instead of a tennis ball probably would have helped to for better consisty but it's almost an entirely different skill set. Oh, and sometimes sidearm would work, bt on verticle targets (like medium sized trees) greek overhand did quite well.
