Looks gorgeous enough, we then again we have come to expect nothing less of you... Grin
What Iīd like to know are they just nice to look at, or do they have functionality too? I mean isnīt slate pretty soft stuff?

Same question as kuggur, how do they perform? I would think re sharpening is easier than it is with a regular stone knife but Slate is relativly fragile and soft in my expierence. I know what slate loks like and I know it's around here so I actually might try making somthing like these if they work well.

Never seen one like the knife on the left, I love it!  There's supposed to be some slate in my area according to the geologic maps, still haven't found any though... Cry

thanks, guys. slate has been used by many different cultures for thousands of years, especially those without access to knappable lithics like the tribes of the artic circle. like other stones, slate comes in varying degrees of hardness. some is extremely soft and some very hard. these are very functional tools with extremely sharp edges. yes, they will dull quickly with use, but like Dan said they can be resharpened with ease.

Extraordinary work! Are they all made by grinding on a sandstone slab? How did you manage to polish them to a shiny finish?

WOW!

If I'm ever in your area, can I come drool on your doorstep? Or just sit at your feet and learn? Seriously, I'd love to see photos of your techniques.
