Recurve bows
Dec 27th, 2011 at 9:09am

I'm looking for good descriptions of how to build recurve bows. Websites, papers, books, video?

I have several descriptions of how to build longbows, simple as well as laminated, but I have never seen a good one for recurve bows.

Nothing urgent, just wondering.

You may try to look here : Webarcherie.
This is the google translated link, the original is in french.

After looking at the translation, "arc" is "bow" Smiley

Great feedback, thanks!

I've ordered the four volumes of the bowyers bible at the library and have the sites marked for browsing.

Go to the Primitive Archer site.  These are all natural materiales, no fiberglass or carbon but they do use modern glues and modern tools.  There are several build alongs using a completly equipted wood working shop down to simple hand tools, this should get you started.

Or you can also just make a good straight self bow and steam the tips back into a recurve for higher performance. Again a Bill said PA is a great source for info.
