Hello from Lake Charles, Louisiana

Hi, everyone. I found this site through StumbleUpon. I made a paracord sling a few days ago and I've greatly enjoyed the little time I've had to use it. For ammo, I'm using a few tennis cricket balls I have. If you're not familiar with them, they are basically just heavy tennis balls. I'm getting 100+ yards out of them. One of my parkour buddies thought it was silly at first, but after he gave it a try he stopped laughing. I've been lurking on the forum since I found it and I want to thank y'all for all the great info y'all have here.

Hello and welcome.  I made the same style sling for throwing tennis balls for the dogs.  They work great.  Bill

Thanks, guys.

I made a new sling yesterday out of a web belt. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, though.

You might want to keep the pouch from unraveling by either singeing the ends with a lighter if it's nylon or dabbing it with super glue if the webbing is made from a natural material.

Yeah, I just used a needle and thread. It works well, but it looks a bit messy. If I make another one I'm going to run the ends through a sewing machine then use some glue before putting them together. I actually made two sets of cords at different lengths for this sling. It can go from 22in to 42in with little difficulty.

Hey there Phantom. Good work with the slings. I'd like to hear which one you like the best. I sling with a paracord sling.

Hey Phantom, I am another newbie myself. Haven't even made my first sling yet, only a staff sling, though I have plans to make a braided one ASAP. Very nice slings you have there.

Thanks, guys.

TS, I'm liking my paracord sling slightly better, but I'm using cricket tennis balls for ammo right now and they sometimes leave the sling too early. It only seems to happen while I'm warming up, though, so it must be because I just don't have the technique quite down yet. I'm still playing around trying to figure out what works the best for me. The belt one holds the balls more securely. I'm really not sure why I prefer the paracord one. I guess it just has a better feel when I use it.

When I first started throwing with shepherd slings made from paracord, I had the same challenge too.  I made and thrown slings for 4 years now, and I just started making and throwing with slings made from paracord a couple of months ago.  I was so used to the jute sling that I had to adjust my release point because of the difference in the material.  Paracord releases faster than jute.

Overall, I prefer to throw with slings made from natural rope fibers.  I get the most power and distance from the split pouch sling that I make.  Although I really like the sound of the paracord slings I throw with.

The interchangeable bands of differing lengths sounds like a good idea. Transformer.
