Hi everyone new to the forum from Alabama. I have recently taken an interest in hunting with primitive weapons I have a blowgun, slingshot, spear , bola and atlatl. I am interested in hunting with a sling but I do not know what kind to make or buy I would love to hear some recommendations. I usually hunt animals from the size of birds to raccoons. If anyone makes and sells slings I would be interested in buying if they are not expensive( I'm on a fixed college student income). Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum Blowgunner. Slings are quite easy to make. You need not have any real skill at braiding. It can be as simple as taking a piece of leather or nylon webbing and tying a cord to each end. Aussie generally sends newer members what are referred to here as Aussie pouches if they need it. Very simple but they work as good as anything you can buy, and sometimes much better.

Hey blowgunner, I'm relatively new as well. Welcome to the forum, nice to have you here. I'm also into primitive weapons, spears, blowguns, archery, slingshot(elastic type), and recently Slings.

Give it food and feed it for a day, Give it a rock and it'll never go hungry again.

Welcome from another Alabama college student.
It will probably take you a while to build up the skill necessary to hunt with a sling, so I suggest using tennis balls to start out with. If you check the Trading Post on here you'll see that there are a lot of members willing to send a sling out to beginners free of charge, including myself. We also have a lot of tutorials for making slings if you would rather do it yourself, and no one design is too much better than any other so you're free to make the design that looks good to you.
