coolness,  I make them not with the stone on top,  but laterally and I lash it to the stick near the tip

The elk hide/horse hair combo looks great. I think of all the things I've seen you post so far Aztec this is my favorite.

Out of curiosity what type of stone is most suited for this type of club? Also do you know the species of wood you chose for the handle?

thanks morphy!

the handle is hickory and the stone came from the river. you just need to find a stone thats small grained and sturdy. when i look for axe or club stones i throw the stones against other rocks to check if theyre worth messing with. if they break or chip i keep looking

the only shapping i did was to make a groove around the middle for the raw hide bindings.

too cool for school, Caleb!

Morphy, the absolute best is greenstone (hard as all get out!), and a good runner up is basalt, but like Aztec said any hard tight grained rock will do.

Will andesite be a good type of rock for crafts like this? Itīs by far the most common rock I can find and some types are really hard.

I  very much enjoy your posts, aztec.  Very nice work, once again.   The stone looks like granite to me, but I'm no expert.
