Hi guys!
I'm from Sanremo, Italy, but i work for the University of Siena - Arezzo (in central Tuscany, about 450km from my hometown in western Ligury) where i attained a Ph.D. working on the production of printed books from XV to XVII sec.
At the same time i enjoy myself studying ancient weapons and warfare with a collegue and friend of mine (a madman from Turin, clearly resembling a nordic warrior, but i'm sure he is also in the lineage of Attila

): we basically focus on the european middleage period, although from time to time i feel the needing of expand my horizon and look to other ages and peoples.
I found this forum and the site slinging.org about one year ago, and keep on lurking your conversation because i was really caught by the sling: construction, use, effectivness in war and hunting, and so on, and i really wanted to deepen my knowledge about it... and yes, clearly i was eager to create mine and use it! (my girlfriend says i'm halfway between Indiana Jones and MacGyver... every time working to an armour, a knife, a bow when i'm not trying to understand some crampled parchment from XIV sec. or to retrieve an old and dusty book

)
I created my first sling about six months ago, now i'm about to start the... mh, i think it's the eighth
It will be my care to share as soon as possible photos of them, as of ammo i use, but i can anticipate that i worked with various commercial fibers (cotton, hemp, linen, sisal, polypropylene, nylon), and i gave a try to make homemade strings made from broom: in Italy we call it "ginestra" and it's really common in ligurian undergrowth, and was used from local textile industry until '40s.
