chinese crossbow designs?
Jun 6th, 2010 at 8:41pm

Hey, I am wondering if there are any simple ways to make a single shot non repeating crossbow that looks like it is from the Qin dynasty?  I know roughly how to make the bow for it but what I am really stuck on is the mechanism, I know a couple of methods but I was wondering what there is besides a bronze trigger release, (kinda hard for me, though I could probably work it out,) that would be more simple?  I was thinking perhaps the method where you push up on a wooden peg to release it might be good, but I am not sure they used it at this time.

look up the book of the crossbow. I made a trigger for my ballista with one of the designs. If you can't get a hold of that, the block trigger is nice- http://www.siege-engine.com/TriggersAndCatches.shtml

I suppose a modified shimmed hook trigger would be nice, too
