Posts: 1993 oceanside, CA Gender:	bone tipped throwing spear Dec 21^st, 2009 at 6:54pm here is a bone bladed throwing spear i made this afternoon. the blade is about 11" long and made from beef bone. i dyed it in a little tea to give it that old look. the shaft is fire straightened cottonwood and the hafting is hide glue and rawhide. the whole thing is about 7' long.

It aint finished yet... taper the rear two thirds of the shaft till the end is about half the original diameter, this will push the balance point forward. One third of the way back from the tip is where you want it. Next, get a leather thong and tie it on as an amentum. If you havent thrown a spear with an amentum then you dont know what you are missing.
