ISAC SCORES (with pics)
Oct 5th, 2009 at 12:26pm

our competition was this last saturday and although it was interupted we still managed to get one round of slinging in the can. so, it is my pleasure to post the first scores in ISAC style competition!

ISAC Oceanside, CA 10/03/09

1. Stephen Brandon  Oceanside, CA (non-forum member) 30" elkhide/stones  first round 10m: 0,0,5,0,0 second round 15m: 10,0,5,0,0 total: 20

2. Kit Dietrich Oceanside, CA (non-forum member) 28" elkhide/stones first round 10m: 0,0,0,10,0 second round 15m: 0,0,0,10,5 total: 25

3. Steve ? Ramona, CA (non-forum member) 30" leather/stones first round 10m: 0,0,5,5,5 second round 15m: 0,0,0,10,0 total: 25

4. Chris Henry Oceanside, CA (forum member) 28" elkhide/stones first round 10m: 0,5,0,10,0 second round 15m: 10,0,20X,0,0 total: 45X

5. Chad Ring Orange county, Ca (non-forum member) 30" leather/stones first round 10m: 0,0,0,0,0 second round 0,0,20X,0,0 total: 20X

i admit it was a little lopsided, but aside from my roomate Stephen (who had an off day) none of the participants are regular slingers. Steve from Ramona (forgot to get his last name!) was an excellent shot. he barely missed the 20X target by an inch like four times! and he said he hadn't used a sling in 20 years! he bought one from me and said he'll start practicing. uh oh Tongue Chad had never picked up a sling in his life and had real trouble even getting his shots to go in the right direction, but once he did his first good cast totally nailed the small target! he admits he was aiming elswhere, but still! i had a pretty bad first round for me. i guess i just find it difficult to throw from that close. all in all, it was a great time and everyone had a blast. terrain permitting, we plan on having these every time we do an atlatl event. in the meantime i'll keep posting scores from i and my roommates. i'd love to see some from other members as well.

thanks, man. my accuracy is way up, but this dang arm injury is preventing me from doing a lot! i can't practice very much and i can't throw atlatls at all! i'm bummed. in the warm up rounds, i hit 8 out of ten from 20 yards! but then it started hurting and i kinda choked.

Lol When I looked at Paleo's pictures, I was noticing how remarkably the scenery behind him looked like mountains around Rainbow in Southern California. Then I noticed where the slingers were from.  Grin

POSTING SCORES

Thanks for the clarification and standardization with applying ISAK to slings.  I greatly increased accuracy with archery after joining an archery club.  It helps me set my standards

I set up my range and measured out the yards rather than pace.

In rain and mud I didn't sling much.

1st round warm up 10 yards 0,0,0,0,0 No slinging from 15 yards

Next set: 10 yards 0,10,0,0,0  15 yards 0,0,0,0,0  total 10

Next set: 10 yards 0,0,0,10,0  15 yards 0,0,0,0,0  total 10

Nowhere to go but up  Smiley
