Epoxy mixed with charcoal powder comes out nice and black. Fine sandpaper takes the plasticky shine off. I use it on my atlatls.

the recipe for pitch glue is pine resin, powdered charcoal, and powdered grass or dried animal dung. melt the pitch and add small amounts of the other two ingredients until you have the consistancy you want. awesome looking club, by the way!

i wanted to make one of these for a long time and was wondering what kind of stone would you use and how did you shape it

im not sure what kind of stone it is.i found it at the river, but i imagine and kind would work as long as its non pourus.

most of the shaping was done with a bench grinder. then i smoothed it out with other rocks and sandpaper  Smiley
