Are you doing peck and grind or are you using power tools?  If you have power tools, I would use them.  Pecking and grinding is not hard but it takes so long to make anything.

What are you making out of the slate, atlatl weights and bannerstones?  Or an ulu?  I made some ax heads, they did not last long.  Bill

i am using power tools, Bill, for the simple fact that i don't have the time to hand peck them. i've done it before the old-fashioned way and it works great, but you're right, it takes FOREVER! the slate i'm turning into ulus, neolithic daggers, and spear heads. i should have some pictures by weeks end.

Have you looked at some of the late bronze age Chinese slate daggers?  Some are very ornate, they were used as a status symbol.  Bill

I like that persimmon handle.  Using power tools, how long does it take to make a celt?  I am including polishing, it seems to take as long to polish the celt as it does to make it.  Bill
