i had to split the shaft all the way down to the middle to work it and then tie it back up.

i've used these many times before and they are, hands down, the most efficient design for taking fish.

nice, the only method of making that i know is with an all wood barb rather then an attached on barb such as bone. is the bone attachment too weak? it seems to not be able to support the weight of the fish

aztec, been searching for cheap shark teeth for years! all that i can ever find are either tiny or way over priced. when i do that TV mako hunt in few months i'm hoping to bag a few and get all the teeth i need, but until then your guess is as good as mine.

kid, those barbs aren't little hollow chicken bones. they're ground down from bison femurs (big, thick, solid leg bones) and are as strong and flexible as can be. my guess is that the wood or the cordage would break before the bone ever would. trust me, it'll handle any fish that fits in between those barbs.
