the one in the middle with the guards looks wicked. probably not so much a user, but definitely cool. how long is the blade? it looks massive.

great fan of your basket-maker knives. looks like they could stand some serious use.

Makes me wonder if the people of ancient times could've constructed such works of art. Great job Paleo.  Smiley

thanks, Wayfarer. actually, if you ever see some of the works by the neolithic cultures of Europe and Asia or the Mesoamericans then my stuff would pale by comparison. Embarrassed

really like the basketmaker knives, they seem extremely useful for generic use (like for making baskets i guess)

thanks, Kid. they are a great all-purpose knife, but the term 'Basketmaker' refers to the culture that they are associated with rather than any specific function.

here's some more...

I've found some pictures of the first knife I've ever forged!
It's the replica of an Iron Age knife found in a grave in Lazio, near Rome.
One of the first iron objects used in Italy (8th Century b.C.):

...

...

...

I used it for a whole month in the mountain, and while it shakes a bit, it passed the test  Smiley
I used it for eating, woodworking and cutting tendons off bones.
Greetings,
Mauro.

"Technical notes":
forging lasted 2 hours, while polishing the blade with sandstone another 1 hour and 50 minutes.
I've forged it the 8th of May, 2010, and have never polished the blade again since then!
Ciao!
