thanks, guys  Smiley

Morphy, yeah, that's osage orange all right. that type of knife is called a Basketmaker II after the culture it is associated with. it's just your everday general purpose tool. the originals found in caves had slightly shorter, more triangular blades but that might be due to several retouchings and sharpenings.

Congratulations! Those knives are really beautiful. Thanx for sharing all your knowledge and skills  Cheesy

Are they made using authentic abo/prehistoric techniques or by applying modern tools, such as copper boppers, lever systems, etc.?

thanks, J. i switch back and forth from modern to abo tools in my flintknapping. i use copper billets and pressure flakers for the harder materials like flint or when i'm doing a particularly large or delicate piece, but i learned with antler tools and still use them for most of my work. i don't use levers, punches, or cut slabs. my stuff is all done with hand held precussion and pressure flaking. here are some of my tools....

sure you coud, Kid. pressure flaking (which is how you put an edge on stone) is the easiest form of knapping. all you'd need is an antler tine or a copper or soft iron nail. it only takes about 15 seconds to put a brand new razor sharp edge using this method.
