Way to go!! You're part of slinging.org history now.  As far as I'm concerned this is one of the best tutorials in the batch.  I never braided or wove anything before it.  Congrats on getting into guides and articles.  It's well deserved.

Very well done. Thank you for putting this together. I'll try it out once I get some cordage.

Congrats Rockman!!!

Making that sling finally makes sense. I think I have enough Paracord to make one. I now have something to do tonight thanks..... Wink

Edit:
I am going to have to wait until I get some other string paracord is too thick for that kind of braid. Sorry I am a bit inedriated.

Hi all,

New member here. First post.

Two days ago I made my first sling using the Rockman Tutorial. Great stuff and easy to follow. I used two different colors of twine, both of which are quite rough. Still the results are terrific.

I took it down to the shores of Lake Ontario in Toronto yesterday; found a secluded spot with good rocks and slung (slinged?) away. Good fun and I was amazed at how far I could send those rocks. I found that larger rocks, about the size of a small chicken egg, worked best.

Here's a photo of my work.

For those having trouble with the Whip Wrap section here's a very good tutorial on YouTube. It shows two techniques - the first one very good and new to me.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDRRzSKu6JQ

That's a beautiful piece of handywork, well done! I wish my first Rockman had looked that good!

The only thing I'm curious about is what to do with those annoying extra strands if you decide to taper the release cord. I use the same method that you use (knotting them off), but I'm wondering if anybody has a better technique to hide them; I'm mostly interested in aesthetics rather than function.
