Great tutorial! This is the only part I don't understand though
Quote from adsi on Jun 3rd, 2009, 12:50pm:
it uses this not throughout but you could just use separate pieces of string and tie the strings together.

The layout of the tutorial is a bit belabored (by that, I mean the scrolling involved), and I think there ought to be a good deal more verbal instruction describing what's being done at each stage--like specifying which strands are being used when, and what knot/knots are in use.  But overall it seems to be a very good effort.

Adsi, that sling of yours in the picture looks GREAT!  I mean really really GREAT!  Nice job, man!  Cheesy

the more strands you use to make the sling the smaller the mesh alternatively you can also control the size of the netting by how far apart the knots are

I like this tutorial for four reasons.
1.  I understand it.
2.  That's a great looking sling in the picture.... by far adsi's best!
3.  This is a really good idea for a different kind of sling.
4.  This tutorial teaches you not only how to make a very useful sling, but it also shows you how to make a net as a survival skill.  This is something I've always been curious about.

Hey adsi, nice design. I'll have to try it sometime. How long is time of construction?

I feel like the only one who does not clearly understand (and can't tell from the graphics), from start to finish, where which cords come from and go to during the construction of this sling.  undecided

The more I look at the tutorial, the more baffled I become.  I wish someone would show the step-by-step with photographs.
The wording does not make at all clear how many strands are in use, how they are tied to begin the project, why the outermost strands are depicted as thicker than the inside ones...  There is too much vagueness for me to "get it."

From waht I understand, I think the cords stay in the same order the whole pouch. I think you just bend them together and tie them. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
Oh, I think you just start with a normal braided sling. (6 strands) The outside thick cords are three strands braided together I think. Hope that helps a bit.

ratman thanks

Are you saying that you start by making the finger loop with six strands used to make it (a three-strand braid with each strand doubled?), and then when it is folded there are twelve strands to make the retention cord, twelve to make the pouch, etc.?  And are you using the twelve strands in groups of four each to make a three-strand braid?
