The braid in the Instructables page you linked to is a four strand flat braid. It works very similar to the basic 3-strand braid that is so common. I have only rarely seen this 4-strand braid used for slings. In fact, I can think of only one example, which is an old Andean sling that had a braided-net pouch made of that braid.
The instructions on my website linked to above are for the round braid I think you're looking for, and I'm sorry that they weren't clear. I've drawn up a diagram that might be a little easier to understand. It shows the two steps required for the braid. All you do is repeat steps 1 and 2 for as long as you need the braid.
On the drawing, step 1 is moving the light grey strand, and step two is moving the dark grey strand.
When you go back to step 1, you will be moving the white strand, and when you go back to step 2 it will be the strand with the diagonal lines that moves.
On the next repeat, it will be just like it was the first time.
