Nylon whip instructions

The whip is braided with an 8 plait core wrapped around sleeved ball chain , core
is then wrapped in a 12 plait overlay.

Braids up easier than I thought it would. Wink

I'm still working on the core.

Have'nt chosen color for 12 plait overlay Not many colors to choose from in local stores. The only thing that looks troublesome is the turks-head knot on the butt of the whip.

Lookin' better and better. I plaited 8 strands for 11 inches; then dropped 2 strands and am about to finish 20 inches of 6 strand plait. When I reach the end of the ball chain I'll drop 2 strands and 4 strand plait braid till I run out of cord. Then I get to choose my overlay colors, cut strands (12) and start again at the butt end of the whip.

8 Plait - Divide strands 4 per side tie them securely to sleeved ball chain core and fan the 4 strands out on each side. Take top strand from one side around the back then under 2 strands , over 2 and return to the bottom position of the side it started on. Take top strand from the other side around the back then under 2 strands , over 2 and to the bottom position of the side it started on. Keep alternating sides for the top strand to incorporate into the braid Pull tight after every pair of strands

6 Plait - Same technique with 3 strands per side. Under1, Over 2 or Under 2 , Over 1.
I'm using under 1 over2 in my core

4 Plait - Same technique with 2 strands per side. Under 1 , Over 1

Electrical tape wrapped around the butt. A tight wrap in 3 layers. 6 inches overlayed by 10 inches which in turn is overlayed by 14 inches .

I must try this...have been looking for a good nylon whip tutorial, now just find some time.....
I wonder if you have to "break it in" like a leather whip, probably not. Let us know how it performes once it´s done (by the looks of it you´re going strong..)
I once made a 6 foot snake, it cracked pretty well but it was really ugly...
