Szymon has asked me how to make a sling pouch of medical tape. As it is my favourite one which I use for tennis balls, dog balls and other balls (including snow balls), I have decided to answer his questions at the forum. Maybe someone will like that design. It is simple, quick and effective, durable and waterproof.
Here is a brief tutorial. If something is unclear feel free to ask questions.
Pic 1. The diameter of the used string is ca. 3.5 mm. The cotton linen medical tape is 50 mm wide.
Pic 2. The two equil and overlapped strings are connected together by the bowline knots (
http://www.tollesburysc.co.uk/Knots/Bowline.htm). The ends of the strings are secured by the lighter.
Pic 3. As I use the wide grip I prefere a bit longer ones. In this case is 230 mm long.
Pic 4. Prepare the piece of the tape which covers whole the precisely formed cradle including the knots.
Pic 5. Put the tape on the cradle very carefully.
Pic 6. Stick the tape to the strings gently.
Pic 7. Reverse the cradle together and the stuck stripe together.
Pic 8. Prepare the second piece of the tape which covers the cradle, like before.
Pic 9. Stick the two pieces together, precisely and firmly.
Pic 10, 11. Cut of the excess of the tape just near of the strings.
Pic 12. Take the thirt piece of the tape of the same lenght.
Pic 13. Tear the strip into two equal pieces.
Pic 14. Stick one of them to the edge of the cradle.
Pic 15, 16, 17, 18, 19. Bent the edges and precisely stick them to the cradle in the way like on the pictures.
Pic 20, 21, 22. Do the same with the second strip.
Pic 23, 24, 25. Eventually the pouch is ready.
Pic 26. Here is the ready adjustable sling in resting.
Pic 27. Here you can see it in action. The ball just is going to hit the target.
