lol - there a few threads on flintknapping around the forum. Try either the search engine or some of the older pages.

I know we used to have a few flint knappers on the forum a year or three back. Might be still around but for the life of me I can't remember who they were.

But yeah, welcome :-)

JTK I am in NE. KY.where KY,Ohio,Wva.come together if you look at a map uell see AshlandKy,IrontonOhio,an Huntington Wva, I'm in
the middle of all that in a town of Raceland about 7mi. NW. of Ashland.

Hello oldavid flintknapping is the primitive art of making arrowheads from flint,glass ect. as soon as I can post some pics of my work
I'll show you thanks for asking I enjoy sharing with others.

not just arrowheads - essentially flintknapping is the art of putting a serious edge on a stone blade.
Flint is often used as it's a hard stone that holds a good edge and can be selectively flaked to shape a blade: axehead. knife, arrowhead etc.
Obsidian is also often used Smiley

You'd be amazed what you pick up around here lol

Wow...so it's kinda like creating old-fashioned weapons? Like..hmm...a stone switchblade or something? Roll Eyes Must be pretty darn interesting!

Yep oldavid it exactly creating primitive weapons I didn't give a full explantion aardvark took care of it for me I use flint obsidian and
plain glass to make knives arrowheads and other primitive tools very interesting hobbie there are lots of sites on the net you can look
at and many suppliers for tools to use if you are going to try it get lots of bandaids you do cut yourselfe alot.
