Why fig 8 is called fig8

Just a quick point. I've never seen this explained on the site and It wasn't until I was practicing the throw without a sling that I realised myself.
It's very simple.

Your sling hand describes an almost perfect figure of 8 in the air when you do the throw.
Try it without a sling so you can concentrate on your hand movement and you'll see.

:-)

Simple but not as obvious as you might think.

I tired tried it, with an imaginary sling.  You are right!
