Welcome Cap,

That looks heavy-duty!  How does it throw?

It throws beautifully--i think it is the best design I have ever made--The pouch is formed around a golf ball
and has gone through many changes before deciding on this design--I tried sewing the pouch but finally decided on using Levi type rivets because they are strong (never broke a rivet on a pair of Levis)

That is one serious sling. I expected to see spikes or something on it.

interesting, the pouch looks too rigid to me to give good release (you know that phrase sounds vaguely rude, hmm probably just me).
Anyway is the pouch more flexible than it looks or does it just simply not matter.
And how does it fare with anything much larger than a golf ball ?
'cos my aussie mk1 can handle anything from small pebble size up to large potatoe size.
Of course that's not black studded leather :-)

Certainly a striking beast any way you look at it - as the actress said to the bishop (that's it, I'm definitely in innuendo mode, probably best all round if I went to work ;-)

The pouch is very flexible and gives an excellent release. The leather is treated with Lexol conditioner.  The pouch can handle objects as large as a tennis ball.  I like to use what I call a dead ball--a tennis ball with some lead shot placed inside through a small slit and then sealed with rtv. That keeps the tennis ball from bouncing completly away.

One of the problems I encountered with making pouches was that I had a tendency to make the pouch too deep and the projectiles would hang up in the pouch upon release.  This design seems to work the best and gives an excellent release.

Have to admit that when I first saw it I also thought it looked too deep for a good release and also very specifically tailored to golf balls. It sure looks well made though.

Be very happy to send you one of my Mk1 AussiePOUCHes COMPLETE WITH STITCH (C-A please note). They don't look quite as pretty as yours but C-A wants to marry his.

I have tried a number of pouch designs and depths, but the current design seems to work the best--it releases very very nicely--no problem at all.  I built a slightly larger one that slings tennis balls very well and another only for tennis balls--photos to follow soon  Captain Paul
