Dravonk, according to the curator of the Petrie Museum, where the sling is, it was more than likely a sling from a mercenary troop from the Middle East.
Besides, we are forgettting, there is more than one type of sling. There were slings used in war, and other ones used for hunting/ other. There probably would be differences according to the needs of the user.

Posts: 576 zagreb, croatia (europe) Gender:	i forgot how to set more than one picture in post Reply #16 - Apr 7^th, 2007 at 12:54pm canadian hunting sling is just a leather puch with plant fibre braided thin cords. canadian war sling is a bit longer, has thicker cords and it's pouch is braided net of the same plant material. (that way war sling can hold much heavier ammo than hunting one)
