I have made at least four others like it for gifts, and can do it pretty quickly now. I stitched the leather on with a sewing awl, which I got cheap at the craft store. I dabbed the thread knot with super glue. The cord is jute.

I used cotton for material and added a few strips of leather for aesthetics, no real function. I like the shorter length. It seems to be more accurate. You can see the errors more in this one.

Hey if it works who cares what it looks like. My first braiding attempt doesn't look too pretty either but it still sends rocks down range.

The original was found in an excavation in the town of Randers in Denmark. The pouch measures 7,5 cm x 10 cm. The strings are 60 cm each. I also made this one (though it's not based on anything but my imagination )

If you have any information on the first sling, I would love to hear it. I am sure that other members who are into historical slinging would love to hear it as well.
